New residents welcomed to the Shire

Southern Grampians Shire Council’s annual New Residents Welcome Function was held on Friday October 24, to welcome people who have moved to the Shire in the past twelve months.

The function was well attended with over 40 new residents to the Southern Grampians Shire attending.

Representatives from a variety of local sporting clubs and service organisations were invited to the function to offer advice to new residents on membership details, dates, times and locations that the various clubs meet and general information about the clubs and organisations that were in attendance.

Southern Grampians Shire Councillors were also present to meet with new residents and speak with them about any questions or issues they may have had since moving to the Shire.

Lucky door prizes consisting of a golf membership, a local produced hamper and subscriptions to the Hamilton Spectator were also awarded on the night to new residents in attendance.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Richard Perry said “The New Residents Welcome Function is a great way for people who have recently moved to the Shire to meet other new residents, learn about some of the local sporting and service clubs and to ask any questions to Councillors that they may have.”

“I strongly urge any new residents to register with Council so that they can be invited to future functions,” he added.

If you have recently moved to the Southern Grampians Shire or you know someone who has, please contact Council on 5573 0444 to receive a new residents welcome kit and to register your interest for next year’s function.
